Very nice clubhouse grill as well. KACT WACO REGIONAL WACO TX Hotels -- Van from airport to the Hilton, free, crew rates. Bars and Restaurants in walking distance. I prefer Diamond Backs. Misc -- RAM Aircraft's headquarters is located right down the street from Texas Aero, they can usually give you an impressive tour of their facilities. They overhaul and make custom piston engines and accessories for aircraft. - Also there is a trap shooting course further down the road at the edge of the airport on your way into town! KADS ADDISON DALLAS TX Hotels -- The Courtyard Marriott. Located right in the middle of the action on Beltline Dr. Food -- Blackfin. Great bar in the evenings...lots of scenery. Food -- Humperdinks. Try the local brew and the delicious calamari. Culture -- Some of the best looking girls in Texas! Hang out on Broadway on a Thursday-Saturday night and you'll know what I'm talking about - I married a Tech grad! Food -- Houlihan's ( cab ride) has the best eye candy happy hour - Cougar country! Food -- Try the flying saucer... Tons of beers on tap and great food. There's a few of em scattered across Texas Food -- Zen Mongolian Bar and Grill, Great local spot with an outside patio area. Looks like it may have some opportunity for nightlife. 5064 Addison Cir (972) 233-9362 KAQO LLANO MUNI LLANO TX Food -- Cooper's bbq is usually why people come to Llano but the real deal is Inman's Kitchen. Great food and great people KAUS AUSTIN-BERGSTROM INTL AUSTIN TX Food -- Take a crew car to I-35, go left, stay on feeder. First red light go right. Twin Peaks restaurant is on left about 100 yards down. Food is great and scenery is excellent. Its like a really classy Hooters without the cluttered restaurant and cheezy stockings on the girls legs. The ladies are much nicer at Twin Peaks! Sports -- Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop - www.mellowjohnnys.com Bicycle Shop in downtown Austin (Lance Armstrong). They rent bikes and have mountain bike trails that will fill up the day. We didn't have a chance to ride this time but next time we will make time. Great shop (I am a novice so it was all amazing to me). Snack bar and Coffee Bar too. They also have locker and shower rental for jumi if you wanted to shower before heading to the airport. Food -- The Oasis at Lake Travis is a great afternoon getaway. Its about a 45 min drive west but it is worth it. Get there in time for sunset or just go to hear the bands www.oasis-austin.com . Good Food too ~pp, rental car req. Misc -- The Good Life Barber Shop is what a haircut should be! Best cut I have ever had. They have a lounge for waiting with a pool table, darts and leather recliners. Finished with a hot lather straight razor neck shave, hot towel, and massage. Downtown Austin - 201 E. 5th St http://www.thegoodlifebarbershop.com call ahead 512-320-0010 Food -- "juan in a million" is a must. Only about 15 minutes from the airport. Ask for the Don Juan, its a huge serving on eggs, potatoes, bacon and cheese served with tortillas for a low price of four dollars. Go there, its a well known austin eatery. Now its getting national attention featured in tv shows and magazines. Historic -- Segway Tours-at the Holiday Inn near I-35 and Riverside Dr. They have different tours while riding a Segway.. very fun to do and prices start at . ( They do give an airline discount) Misc -- Austin is a little city with a huge store of incredible eateries and live music venues. For day stop-overs, Atlantic Aviation can provide crew cars and directions to nyumber of good restaurants as well as close-by golf courses, parks or shopping. Atlantic also has a Wii setup in their lobby for video game lovers including Guitar Hero. Ask at the front counter. Food -- "The Oasis" this resturant overlooks Lake Travis and is a great hangout spot. outdoor decks offer sunset views & they have live music some nights. KBGD HUTCHINSON COUNTY BORGER TX Misc -- They will let you use the car like it is your own if your name is Randy KDAL DALLAS LOVE FIELD DALLAS TX Food -- Bone Daddy's - GREAT BBQ and BETTER WAITRESSES!!!!! - 'nough said!!!! Baby Dolls has nice scenery as well, but not as good food. Misc -- Baby Dolls. Not a place to buy gifts for your daughter... Misc -- Great country bar with live band and DJ is about5 minutes from here. I think it is called Cowboys at Red River. Even if you dont like country music, definitely a great place to go... Misc -- Come try my famous HINDENBURGER with serrano peppers,jalapeno peppers, chipotle, pepperjack cheese, Abe's mayo, tomoato, onions, lettuce, fresh chuck meat, on a toasted bun. Hotels -- Comfort Suites Hotel pilot rate, if you're here for Simuflite and have to stay awhile, you could do a lot worse. Food -- Bone Daddy's - Great food. Even a better view. KEFD ELLINGTON FIELD HOUSTON TX Misc -- The aviator shop on hwy 3 just down the road from KEFD, has all sorts of supply to keep you flying form charts to POH they have it all!!! KELP EL PASO INTL EL PASO TX Culture -- You can cruise on down to Juarez if you dare, I've done it, not recommended unless you have a change of clothes so you don't get pestered for money or killed which is still very possible. KGGG EAST TEXAS RGNL LONGVIEW TX Food -- If you have a vehicle, Double Dave's Pizza on the north side of the loop has pepperoni pizza rolls which are ridiculously delicious and highly addicting. FBOs -- KRS Aviation serves as a home away from home for us. Great staff, fantastic facility. Food -- Great BBQ joint only 5 min away...called Adam's Rib. check it out. Also, KRS Aviation always takes great care of us KGKY ARLINGTON MUNI ARLINGTON TX FBOs -- Harrison has a monopoly here. The city is building a new terminal though, so hopefully that'll help things. Self Serve is on the FAR south end of the field. Much cheaper! KGYI GRAYSON COUNTY SHERMAN-DENISON TX Food -- A great food and drink location is Cellarman's Pub. Awesome oyster appetizers and really good Pizza. Not a franchise but a local hole in the wall. Great selection of Beer. It is a bit smokey for non-smokers but you can sit outside for better air. About pp with appetizer. 2130 Texoma Pkwy 903.813.0994 Sports -- Anytime fitness open 24 hrs. 10 min. from the airport. New equipment and very nice staff that works there. 5 dollars for a guest pass. Kathleen one of the personal trainers treated us like we had been members for years. Cheap Food -- The Flying Saucer. Good bar food. Great brews. 25 min in downtown Houston. Food -- Hilton Airport. Pappas BBQ. Ordered Takeout. Van will drive you. KHQZ MESQUITE METRO MESQUITE TX FBOs -- FBO Hours 8-8. Crew Cars available. Mesquite isnt the most happening town, but it's about a 25 min drive to downtown Dallas. KHYI SAN MARCOS MUNI SAN MARCOS TX Food -- Come try my new breakfast sandwich: FUELMAN'S SANDWICH-with basil pesto,tomato,eggs,swiss and cheddar cheese on a bun at Abe's Airport Cafe (512-353-4359) Food -- Palmer's in the square area is a must. Food -- Abe's! On the Field within walking distance of the FBO. Not just a burger shack - This place is really good and has a good variety! Abe is awesome and makes great food. You can also get Mocha's and Smoothies - Really neat place. - Breakfast or Lunch only - pp - Cash but soon to take credit cards. Food -- "San Marcos River Pub & Grill" this is a must, if you only have time for one meal this is the place to go. good food, good selection, great atmosphere with outdoor seating and a great river view. Food -- Texas Reds: an excellent steak house; this is an authentic place, not a chain that's casual (-27pp) Misc -- "the square" this is a college town (Texas State University) & the square is where the bars, music, enterainment & nightlife is going down Food -- Second time going to HERBERTs. Mexican food. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but packed at lunch time. Great Food. Food -- We went to Luby's which is a cafeteria - it was ok but nothing special, used crew car, 10 min drive, pp. Not much to speak of but just a basic cafeteria style rest. KIAH G. BUSH INTERCONTINENTAL HOUSTON TX Food -- GOOD EATS! Is in the Holiday Inn IAH Lobby! The whole town eats here.. the Food is all Home Cooked. Everything from Sandwiches and Soups to Steaks, Ribs, Meatloaf, and Pot Roast. Full Bar too! Hotels -- The Holiday Inn IAH on JFK Blvd is a great hotel. I will be the first to tell you that this place was a dump. But the renevations are not complete and every room is great. Food -- If you are in the dallas area try Pappadoux Cajun Restaurant...great food....something for everyone. JM (corporate pilot) KJWY MID-WAY RGNL MIDLOTHIAN TX Food -- Campuzano's Mexican Food in Waxahachie as well as Junction BBQ in downtown Midlothian are both great spots. Try the massive stuffed baked potato plus drink for at Junction BBQ. KLBB LUBBOCK INTL LUBBOCK TX Food -- Josies on 19th.....open 24 hours, great burritos for cheap. You can eat there for under 5 bucks. Food -- Spanky's by Tech. Fried cheese that'll make you wanna slap yo' mama! Food -- CAP ROCK CAFE - 3405 34th St, Lubbock, TX - (806) 784-0300, Good food and drinks, cute waitresses too. A good time was had by all. Food -- Double Nickel is pretty good. KLRD LAREDO INTL LAREDO TX Misc -- If you have .00 and like to live dangerously BOYs town is alot of fun. Just cross the boreder and ask any cab driver they know. cab ride there and back. KMDD MIDLAND AIRPARK MIDLAND TX Food -- Michael's restaurant... good food, very cool atmosphere with some of the largest aircraft models I've ever seen. Borrow the crew car, it's just around the corner. Apparently Michael is a huge aviation history buff. KMFE MC ALLEN MILLER INTL MCALLEN TX Food -- Food court in the mall beside McCreery Aviation is within walking distance. Also a steak house of the Road House variety of one of those (all the same) on the way. KMWL MINERAL WELLS MINERAL WELLS TX Misc -- great bass n trout fishing at the Brazos river, FBO has crew car !!!... KODO ODESSA-SCHLEMEYER FIELD ODESSA TX Misc -- New Fbo Hottie She is a lot of fun when you are bored ! KPPA PERRY LEFORS FIELD PAMPA TX Food -- Texas Rose Steakhouse. I always order the either the medium ribeye or the angus salad. Both are very good. Burgers are really good there as well. -bhaiduk KRBD DALLAS EXECUTIVE DALLAS TX FBOs -- I used Cutter FBO coming in for a Dallas Stars hockey game. Misc -- The riverwalk is a must see. 10 min. from the airport. Lotas and lots of restaurants and beautiful scenery. KSEP CLARK FIELD MUNI STEPHENVILLE TX Food -- Everyone knows- Hard Eight BBQ is some of the best food in Texas. Owners of the restaurant are pilots and have positioned golf carts at the airport for use driving back and forth to the restaurant (5 minute drive). Jalapeno poppers and Dublin (Imperial Cane Sugar) Dr. Pepper are a few the great options. KSGR SUGARLAND REGIONAL SUGARLAND TX FBOs -- Sugarland City run FBO is Great. Complementary crew car for a couple of hours, gym, showers, sleeping quarters, and free wi-fi!!! FBOs -- One of the BEST pilot lounges in the country. Food -- Ate at Brookstreet BBQ. Not bad. Misc -- by sleeping KSJT MATHIS FIELD SAN ANGELO TX Food -- I found this great little Tapas bar. It's right on the water (a river) and has a live band on the weekends. It's called "Float 404". Highly recommended. Great food and a great atmosphere! KSPS WICHITA MUNICIPAL WICHITA FALLS TX Misc -- Sleep.......theres not much else KTDW TRADEWIND AMARILLO TX Food -- Lots of Restaurants on I-40 West of the Airport. KTKI COLLIN COUNTY REGL MCKINNEY TX Hotels -- THE place to stay at McKinney is The Grand Hotel and Ricks Chophouse. It's a historic hotel with beautiful renovated rooms in downtown McKinney. Rick's food is AMAZING too!
