S. Carolina style BBQ....their ribs and pulled pork are really good. There are a few locations around the airport. Food -- California Dreaming> I haven't been there but the locals have mentioned it and I plan to try it. pp up around the University, in an old train station. You can make up and back in about an hour during lunch. 401 Main St, Columbia - (803) 254-6767 Misc -- Good call. Went there today, good southern cooking. Food -- I have to mention Lizards Thicket. Good country cookin with sweet tea. "Meat and 3" type of place. The crew cars probably know the 5 min ride by heart - if no crew cars then the line guys will give you a ride and come back and get you. About pp or less KCHS CHARLESTON AFB/INTL CHARLESTON SC Food -- Mary Lou's. Awesome local food. Fried chicken. Lima beans. Corn bread Hotels -- aloft hotel by the W inc Charleston next to the airport was not a good place to stay for a good nights sleep. The walls were so thin you could here conversations and sneezing in the room next door, loud parking lot noise until late at night, and the European decor made the window shades about 3 inches too narrow on the windows to keep out the bright parking lot lights. I would rather stay in a good-o'l Hampton Inn next time. It looked cool but wasn't good for sleeping on a flight crew overnight... Food -- Jestine's Kitchen in CHS is great. Country Cookin' with sweet tea. About pp with the best bread pudding dessert I have possibly ever had. 251 Meeting St Charleston SC 29401 - Downtown and about 15 min from the CHS International Airport. Pilots and Flight Attendants will not be disappointed on this overnight activity when you are bored... Misc -- Concerts!!! Went to ZZ Top. If staying at Hilton Garden Inn, ask if concert at venue right next door. Tickets at gate. Ticketmaster, or AMEX. Small indoor concert hall, but great show. Food -- Hymens Seafood Downtown on Meeting St is the best seafood! Funny name but great food. Southern Fried seafood or eat at the oyster bar... Can be a long wait for dinner. about 10 miles from the airport and takes 15+min each way. KGGE GEORGETOWN COUNTY GEORGETOWN SC FBOs -- Georgetown has a spectacular new terminal building with all the things a pilot could want. I look forward to coming back and staying a while. Food -- There are several great little cafes and restaraunts in town on a street called Front Street. Check out the River Room and Thomas Cafe adn you will not leave disappointed. Misc -- Great new terminal and FBO building (Jan09). Can't wait to come back with more time. KGMU GREENVILLE DOWNTOWN GREENVILLE SC Sports -- Unique Par 3. Play in less then 2 hours! 18 holes under !
