Food -- TAKE THE CREW CAR AND GO TO THE WOLF RD DINER. KBUF BUFFALO NIAGARA INTL BUFFALO NY Food -- Charlie the Butchers: this is a great resturant just a few blocks from Prior Aviation. leave the parking lot to the left and take a left on the main street and its just up at the intersection with the stoplight. it has great sandwichs and an old timey feel and will give you a break from eating at all the chains. KFRG REPUBLIC FARMINGDALE NY Food -- Bellagio's Pizza. Good Stuff. Historic -- Shoot an approach into the American Airpower Museum @ Republic Airport, Long Island, NY. Since I last checked, the museum closes at 4 pm ET. Located on eastern side of field, just north east of runway one-niner. Can't miss it. Warbirds parked right outside. www.americanairpowermuseum.com KHPN WESTCHESTER COUNTY WHITE PLAINS NY Culture -- HPN is just 40 miles from New York City. Any of the FBOs will give you a ride to and from the commuter train station where you can ride for about or less each way. Trains leave/arrive about every half hour for a 30 to 45 minute journey except in the very wee hours. Once at Grand Central Terminal, the whole city is available. I recommend perusing this website for ideas if you have none of your own. http://notfortourists.com/NewYork.aspx Misc -- When staying at the Crowne Plaze, the YMCA (free pass) is only about 4 blocks away. KISP LONG ISLAND MAC ARTHUR ISLIP NY Food -- Many diners and resturants across the street from airport on Vet's Hwy. Also an Applebees & McDonalds. KITH ITHACA TOMPKINS REGIONAL ITHACA NY Food -- The Boat Yard. Great seafood, not to far from the airport. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. KJHW CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY JAMESTOWN NY Food -- Cheery Street Lounge - Great chicken wings and good prices for drinks, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful with other dining experiences. KRME GRIFFISS AIRPARK ROME NY Food -- 2 minutes fro Million Air you will find Spressos Coffee and Food. Good food and coffee. Breafast and lunch (not sure about dinner). Closed on weekends. KROC GREATER ROCHESTER INTL ROCHESTER NY Food -- Dinosaur BBQ. Excellent! Be sure to get there early, especially on weekends. Reservations only for parties of 6+. KSYR SYRACUSE HANCOCK INTL SYRACUSE NY Food -- The Colorado Steak House is about 10 mins from the Airport off I90 (Buckly Road)The Food was great and they have 3 course meal for 20 bucks. I had the 12 OZ Steak which was about 15 bucks. I had Loaded Cheese Frys and a salad as well. I was out the door for 26 bucks. |
