KGPH MIDWEST NATIONAL AIR CTR EXCELSIOR SPRINGS MO Food -- Stayed at The Elms Resort and Spa with FBO discount. Hotel is nice, over a hundred years old, so lots of history here. Cell phone coverage is minimal due to the fact that you're in a valley and surrounded by 10" of rock (sit in the window to make a call). Internet is only available in the lower numbered rooms (ie 204 vs 251) or downstairs. Wabash BBQ is across the street and is AWESOME! Even though the kitchen was closed, we gave our waiter a ten spot and got some great sandwiches. Other than that.... ain't s**t to do. KHAE HANNIBAL MUNI HANNIBAL MO Misc -- Definitely have to visit the historic downtown area! Nice little shops, friendly folks. See Mark Twain's boyhood home and climb the 800 (almost) steps to a lighthouse and a great view. My most enjoyable time was spent sitting on a concrete sidewall on the Missippi and chatting with a local who was fishing for catfish, drum, and other finny things. We watched a paddleboat go by and a verrry long barge pass. Rent a car and make the short drive into Branson. Every eater you can think of, music shows and shopping malls galore. The downtown water front landing is a must see attraction! KSIK SIKESTON MEML MUNI SIKESTON MO Food -- Call Lambert's Cafe, they will send a van to pick you up. A very unique dining experience, and they treat pilots very well - If there's a line, they'll sneak you in the back door and give you a table right away. Well worth the trip, and like the sign on their wall says: "If you leave here hungry, it ain't our fault!"
