They serve lunch on monday, thursday, and friday. Believe me, its an experience you won't soon forget. KAGS BUSH FIELD AUGUSTA GA Misc -- Golf!! If your there for a couple of days. Here are some ideas, Guest villas at the River Course, great deal and nice golf. Another choice is the Houndslake country club in Aiken. They have a guesthouse, actually a small hotel right on the 27 hole course. Food -- We took the crew car up to PF Changs... Always good :) About 15 minutes with the crew car. Take the 520 west to exit 2. There is a very nice mall there with all normal stuff to do. KAHN ATHENS ATHENS GA Food -- The Varsity is a must! Sports -- Flying into Athens this fall, be sure to check and see if the University of Georgia Bulldogs are playing. If it's a home game, the airport is going to be crowded! If you enjoy SEC football, there's no better place to be on a fall afternoon than Athens, GEORGIA! KAJR HABERSHAM COUNTY CORNELIA GA -- Hampton Inn is not too far away...the "Cornelia Inn" is a just taken over Holiday Inn Express. Food -- Runway Fish House is just down the road...good buffet. Staying in town, try the Hampton Inn. KATL HARTSFIELD-JACKSON ATLANTA GA Misc -- you can listen to and monitor Atlanta air traffic on http://atcmonitor.com Food -- The Grecian Gyro. only about 3 min away from fbo. its a dive, but probably the best greek gyros you can get anywhere. an old greek guy runs the place with his greek sailors hat on and an shirt that says 'once a week, go greek'. you'll love it. Food -- I agree with the comment about Spondivits. They go for the atmosphere of a harbor restaurant, but (for those of us familiar with GOOD seafood) they fall way short. I find a much better meal can be had at Malone's. Food -- Spondivits, 1219 Virginia Ave, East Point - YUCK! Food is VERY overpriced, Waitresses act like they are too good to be waitresses and don't need the money... but yet they are ghetto. Wouldn't go back if was the last place to eat - Very long wait at dinner too. Food -- Taco Mac. Tons of beer on tap, even more in the bottle. Food is acceptable. KFTY FULTON COUNTY ATLANTA GA Misc -- Eat at 6 feet under for great seafood (about 10 miles through downtown ATL) or for ribs, the Brookwood Grill (about 15 to 20 miles, I-20 east to I-285 north to GA 400 North to Holcombe Bridge road, 2nd exit loop around over the expressway go west about 1 mile on the right. KGVL LEE GILMER MEMORIAL GAINESVILLE GA Hotels -- There are a few, there's a Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn. For my money, I'd stay at the (NEW) Hilton Garden Inn. There are restaurants within 2/10th's of a mile from it. (Red Lobster, Applebee's, O'Charley's and Longhorns Steakhouse. FBOs -- Champion is the only FBO on field...the FBO itself is great, it's the old WWII control tower. However, the price for gas is alittle pricey. There are two self-serve pumps, the Chevron owned by Champion and Shell owned by Lanier Flight Center. LFC is the Cessna Pilot's Center and has a good pilot's shop. Food -- Good Restaurants in downtown Gainesville...Scott's on the Square and Monkey Barrel. If you're in the mood for wings try Wild Wings near downtown. KLZU GWINNETT COUNTY ATLANTA GA Food -- Food -- Across the runway from Landmark is a Ma-n-Pa restaurant called The Flying Machine. It's ok food with model planes all over the ceiling, a live band at times and mannequins in the bathroom. Misc -- If you like Country Music and/or large country bars with live bands and a dj, check out Wild Bills. Its about 10 minutes from the airport. Food -- Ask your line guy about Old Town Tavern. Good food and great scenery. Less than 10 min from LZU. Misc -- The Mall of Georgia is 10 minutes north of LZU on GA20. Lots of shops, restaurants, and an IMAX movie theater. Braves AAA baseball will be there next year. Gwinnett Gladiators hockey is 20 minutes down I-85 at the Gwinnett Civic Center. Cheap tickets! KPDK DEKALB-PEACHTREE ATLANTA GA Food -- The Flying Machine food is great. In the O'Charleys, Chilli's Applebees style. And you can taxi right up to the door Food -- Visit Baldinos Giant Jersey Subs - 5 minute ride away (Doraville location) - EXCELLENT subs! www.baldinosofatlanta.com Food -- Season's 52 always has great food! Located at the Perimeter Center about 10 min drive. FBOs -- Go to Epps. Good fuel prices. Friendly staff. Crew car. Right next door to the Downwind Restaurant. Pilot lounge with computer, DVD, VCR. Wireless internet. Weather room. On site maintainence. The most hangers on the field. Food -- Restaurant on field Misc -- The Fbo's will usually give you a ride over to the MARTA train station. From there you can get to a good part of Atlanta for a couple of bucks. KRYY COBB COUNTY-MCCOLLUM MARIETTA GA Food -- Just down Chastain from the airport is Taco Mac, a local chain with great food including the best wings I've ever eaten. Chick-Fil-A is next door if time is a limiting factor. KSAV SAVANNAH/HILTON HEAD INTL SAVANNAH GA Food -- Near Ellis Square a place called The Bar Bar, Happy hour is 2 for 1 beers Food -- Awesome sushi bar across the highway from the airport. Food -- Great place to eat right across from Signature... Southern fried chicken!! Misc -- Got a massage at the Oglethorpe Mall... /12 min the mall was 15-20 min away though... KWDR WINDER-BARROW WINDER GA Food -- Spitfire Grill is fantastic, the burgers are amazing, fish and chips are authentic, it's hard to go wrong. But trust me, save room for Banoffee pie |
