Fernandez The Bull... Hotels -- Hilton has comp beach cruisers and beach chairs w/built in back pack. Grab it and head to Clam Pass Park. Take Parks & Rec tram to beach. There is a restaurant there. Bit pricey. Enjoy. Then head up to Pelican Larry's for good grub. KBCT BOCA RATON BOCA RATON FL Misc -- Boomer's arcade, mini golf, laser tag, right next door to airport on airport road. Food -- Bruzzies - Local brewery with descent food and their homegrown beers. Hotels -- Stayed ath the Wyndham Garden Inn - Avitat rate is .00 a night. Nice hotel with lots of eateries nearby. KCRG CRAIG MUNI JACKSONVILLE FL Food -- Great local seafood place. Right on the water and close to MayPort. Inexpensive. Singleton's Seafood Shack 4728 Ocean Street, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 Singleton's Seafood Shack Food -- Food -- Espeto...Great Brazillian Steakhouse. As of July 2008 37.00 per person. However all you can eat and encourage you to enjoy the view of the river, watch TV, or just hang out. Best meat you will ever taste!!!!! KDAB DAYTONA BEACH INTL DAYTONA BEACH FL Food -- Definately go to the Ocean Deck right next to the Mayan Inn on the beach. Great food and drinks, live band every night. Place is usually packed on Fri. and Sat. nights. KDTS DESTIN-FORT WALTON BEACH DESTIN FL Misc -- If you have to overnight and have a car try a 30 minute ride east to Graton Beach. There is a cool locals jazz bar and resturant called The Red Bar. Don't let the outside scare you. The food was great and the atmosphere was also. Food -- dewey destin seafood restauraunt is a hole in the wall, but the best ---- mahi and shrimp i've ever had. Food -- Great breakfast at the donut hole. For seafood try the back porch. Misc -- go to xlkites and take a kiteboard lesson KEYW KEY WEST INTL KEY WEST FL Food -- Blue heaven has the best key lime pie made daily from scratch. Best Food -- Camilles restraunt great food!!! Food -- Hogfish bar and grill on stock island. 1.5 mi away from keyw, GREAT fish sandwich "hogfish sandwich". KFLL HOLLYWOOD INT'L FT LAUDERDALE FL Hotels -- I am posting this under FLL even thought we flew into OPF for the Miami Boat Show. The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is a great hotel for a pilot or flight attendant layover. The crew rate was about 9 for us on a weekend. Lots of relaxation to be had by the pool or on the dock at the bar. Excellent (but pricey for a pilot salary, place to eat at the hotel with very good sushi and local sites. It was about :30 drive from OPF and looks to be about :15 from FLL. I would rate it 2 thumbs up if on the company card for crew member overnights. Looks like a couple of airlines put up their pilots and flight attendants here for overnights in FLL. Misc -- I stay at the Hampton about 1 minute from Airport, I use Jetscape FBO that is great and if you use UV Air is the cheapest fuel around, the bad part is they dont take any other contract fuel. There is a mall in the corner of 12th AVE SW and 34th Street, the pizza place there is great, one of the best pizzas around, any FBO will drive you there is a very short drive. Sports -- Golf - Hollywood Beach is really cheap BUT nice course. Good golf for the money. Food -- Definately Rustic Inn - Good food, cute waitresses. What else do you need? Food -- Rustic Inn Crabhouse www.rusticinn.com The BEST place for seafood and more. Just on the west side of FLL off the beaten path in a boatyard. The ribs..meat will melt off the bone!!! When your finished eating don't ask for a wetnap..they have a cleaning station where you basicly hose youself off, you'll need it!!! Culture -- Scarletts Mens Club is VERY VERY VERY COOL! F/N, go there one night. cover and b+ girls! Misc -- If you like to gamble you can visit the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino just 6 minutes west of the airport. My FBO of choice is SheltAir. Misc -- If you're here for a night drive to south beach and eat on Ocean Blvd. There are plenty of good places to eat or drink or both, on Ocean. About a 45 minute drive. Misc -- National Jets does it right, go there! KFXE EXECUTIVE INT'L FT LAUDERDALE FL Food -- TAURUS Steakhouse is OUTSTANDING. Went twice in two nights. Owners are from PERU where their family owns 5 Argentinian steak houses. Get the Chorizo appetizer and the Skirt Steak entree. Total bill will be 22pp. Dont bother asking how they make it so good....they wont tell! Food -- Bread Shop north of the airport is good. Lunch and Breakfast... 5 min in crew car. KGNV GAINESVILLE RGNL GAINESVILLE FL FBOs -- University Air Center has great scenery! just check out FBOHotties to see. www.fbohotties.com/state.aspx?state=fl FBOs -- I talked to the great looking front desk girl. It kept my mind busy. Food -- Great Pizza at Leonardo's corner of University and 13th, and hot college girls there too. Culture -- super hot college girls at swamp restaurant University Ave KJAX JACKSONVILLE INTL JACKSONVILLE FL Food -- Wasabi. This is a great little Sushi and Japenese Restaurant. Great lunch and big portions. Wasabi 800 Nautica Dr. #127, Jacksonville, Fl Misc -- 747 Lounge. Juke Box, Live Music, and Locals. What more could you ask for? KMCO ORLANDO INTL ORLANDO FL Misc -- Galaxy aviation gives free sea world tickets with fuel purchase Sports -- if you like golf go to the Signature FBO and buy your fuel, for that you get a free round with cart and lunch. Food -- Miller's Ale House 1.5 mi from the Airport is OK. Nice outside area. KMIA MIAMI INTL MIAMI FL Misc -- Crew car, go to Atlantic-Models which is about 4 miles away. Mapquest 6801 NW 77th Ave, Miami 33166. Ask for a tour of the model production shop. www.atlantic-models.com KMTH THE FLORIDA KEYS MARATHON MARATHON FL Food -- Stuffed Pig - Great place for breakfast. Good food at a good price. (cash only) Food -- Wooden Spoon - Great little family ran restaurant for breakfast. Misc -- Call the Ku Ku Konkaunt party bus to key west. They pick you up and drop you back at your hotel. The ride back is a liitle more fun!!! Dancing and singing, and of cousre drinking on the bus. www.kukukonkanut.com KOPF OPA LOCKA MIAMI FL Food -- Foung a great breakfast/lunch spot. In the miami lakes area (just west of opf). Gerardo's Marketplace is great. Its a spanish market with a small outdoor seeting area. We had breakfast egg wraps, and orderd sandwiches for our four pax for the ride home. total bill was about . they are at 15509 bull run rd, miami lakes fl, 33014. www.gerardosmarketplace.com KORL EXECUTIVE ORLANDO FL Food -- Several great places just north of the airport on Lake Baldwin Ln. Brand new development from the real estate boom made to look like Rodeo Dr with shops and restaurants at street level/condos above. Food -- Smokey bones is right around the corner from SheltAir... I always eat there when I visit ORL. They are quick and the food is great. Food -- There is an Olive Garden close (1 mile) (left on John Cheney Hwy from Showwater) that is good for an hour lunch. Just across the street is a mall. They have great to go meals if you want to save a few bucks on catering for the boss. KPBI PALM BEACH INTL WEST PALM BEACH FL Food -- Brewzzi is a micro brewery in City Place. Good food and beer. 700 S. Rosemary Ave. BB kings is nearby for live entertainment (get a coupon from the hotel). Culture -- bradleys is good. T's is a great strip club on the south side of apt off military Misc -- Bradleys. Take australian north to Okeechobee Rd. Go east till you hit Flagler Drive (intracoastal). Keep driving 2-3 blocs north on Flagler and Bradleys is on your left. If you see Banyan road you went too far. GREAT foods (seafood and steaks)and drinks. Great for night life if you don't wanna go to City Place. 5-10 minutes driving max. KPFN PANAMA CITY-BAY CO INTL PANAMA CITY FL Misc -- Hunt's oyster Bar. great raw bar and other seafood good atmosphere and excellent people KRSW SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTL FT MYERS FL Hotels -- Crowne Plaza has a sports bar and grill, Shoeless Joe. Food is fair, prices good, and girl customers are great KSGJ ST AUGUSTINE ST AUGUSTINE FL Food -- King Fish Grill: close to the airport and on the water in a mariana (some entrees are a little pricy); if you don't have time there is a resturant above the fbo overlooking the airport KSRQ SARASOTA/BRADENTON INTL SARASOTA FL Hotels -- If you have a couple of day lay over. Try the Siesta Key Inn on south Siesta Key. Very nice and super clean Inn. Family run but they have a three night minimum. They will do two nights for pilots. It is right on the point of rocks with is great surf fishing. Siesta Key is the number one rated beach in the US... 941 349-4999 Misc -- Best Japanese Steakhouse! Jo To's on U.S. 41 within a half mile of Dolphin Food -- Hilton Garden Inn across from Dolphin Aviation, van it to Anna Maria Oyster Bar. Misc -- There are several cool ways to kill some time at KSRQ. Try going to the Antique and Classic Car museum just south of the Airport on US 41. Captain Brian's Seafood is just south of Dolphin Aviation on 41 (walking distance). There is also the Ringling Museum also real close on US 41. KTLH TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL TALLAHASSEE FL Food -- For a great lunch go to the Renegade grill at the Seminole golf coarse. For dinner and you have time, drive down to Spring Creek restaurant in Spring creek. About 40 minute drive but the local seafood comes directly off the boat. Food -- Jim & Milt's BBQ-get the three way with brunsick stew and okra KTMB KENDALL-TAMIAMI EXECUTIVE MIAMI FL Misc -- Falcon Trust FBO is the best FBO. Falcon has two pool tables, full gym, sauna's, showers, movie theater, and will order in about 15 restarants at no additional cost. KTPA TAMPA INTL TAMPA FL FBOs -- I wonder if you can find the girls from Tampa Jet Center http://tampajet.com on the aviation dating website http://boredpilot.com/date ? You know what I am talking about if you have been there... Pilots from everywhere look forward to a stop at Tampa Jet in TPA Culture -- Ybor city is always cool. Or Channelside Dr. for food... where the cruise ships dock. KVNC VENICE MUNI VENICE FL Food -- Ate at sharky's on the Pier. they run a free shuttle. The view was great and food was fresh and tasty. Well worth the stop! Food -- Island grill right on the field. Great food, atmosphere, and extremely nice people working there! KVQQ CECIL FIELD JACKSONVILLE FL Food -- Food -- Espeto...Great Brazillian Steakhouse. As of July 2008 37.00 per person. KVRB VERO BEACH MUNI VERO BEACH FL Misc -- Don't let "zero beach" fool you..this is a great little town. If you like sushi or thai food there is a great little place 5 min from the airport called Bankok...make sure you order the teriyaki salmon....(it's excellent and inexpensive)! Sushi not for you..? Then you have to experience the Ocean Grill, a Vero Beach Icon. A vast menu, excellent service and reasonable prices..the Ocean Grill is uniquely Vero. If you are in Vero overnight the best place to meet locals is at Riverside Cafe. A restaurant by day and watering hole after dark...you are bound to meet interesting and fun people at Riverside. X14 LA BELLE MUNI LA BELLE FL Misc -- The airport has a crew car. I would recommend Flora and Ella's for lunch. They have great southern food. Try the fried green tomatos. What ever you do don't skip the home made pies. While you are out cruising, go down to the park on the river at hwy 29. The park is a cool place to watch some boats. There is a Honey store by the bridge on 29 and you can pick up some fresh orange bloom honey. X51 GENERAL AVIATION HOMESTEAD FL Misc -- Roberts Aviation has several crew cars, more like vans. Get directions from the Robert's on how the get some great Cuban food. |
