Best breakfast in SoCal. Also there are 2 airplane museums on the airport. Planes of Fame is the oldest and flys some of theirs but Yanks is first rate also. KCRQ MC CLELLAN-PALOMAR CARLSBAD CA Food -- Go to Pizza Port Brewing Company in downtown Carlsbad,CA. Great beer and fantastic pizza. Packed every night of the week. www.pizzaport.com Food -- IF you head east on Palomar airport road and then turn left on Loker Ave. There is are some quick bites to eat directly below final. KLAX LOS ANGELES INTL LOS ANGELES CA Misc -- Staying at the hotels on the row, the Ocean Express Trolley can take you down to Manhattan Beach for food and fun. Cost is now .00 per person for a roundtrip. KLGB LONG BEACH MUNICIPAL LONG BEACH CA Misc -- Belmont Shore is just a couple miles away and there is PLENTY to do there! Lots of food, drinks if you have an extended layover, etc. Best nightlife is Panama Joe's by far! Our BA crew stopped in and had such a time that we'll go back! KMRY MONTEREY PENINSULA MONTEREY CA FBOs -- Monterey Jet Ctr has gym passes if you overnight KMYF MONTGOMERY FIELD SAN DIEGO CA Food -- Pampas Argentine Bar/Grill - 8690 Aero Dr # 105 (858) 278-5971, Lunch and Dinner pp Real grass fed Beef! As good as Ruth Chris but for a fraction of the cost! KSAC SACRAMENTO EXECUTIVE SACRAMENTO CA FBOs -- SAC Jet: Nice FBO with a great crew lounge and cute front desk girls. Not much in the surrounding area, but the airport restaurant is decent. If you have time, get a rental car and check out old town Sacramento near downtown (20 minute drive) KSAN SAN DIEGO INTL SAN DIEGO CA Food -- Bullys is an excellent place for primerib. Try the horseradish crusted primerib. This is about 5 miles away but worth the drive Historic -- Midway aircraft carrier just 5 minutes away. KSBP SAN LUIS COUNTY REGIONAL SAN LUIS OBISPO CA Culture -- The ladies at the San Luis Jet Center have great recommendations for local food/wine, but one of the best wineries is located at the traffic light on the approach end to Runway 29 - Tolosa Winery. Gorgeous tasting room and quality wines. Food -- This is my home airport and the best steak sandwich you'll likely ever have is at the Firestone Grill (Higuera & Osos St). Great salads and fries too. Good authentic mexican food at Chili Peppers on Broad 1/2 block past South St on the left. Woodstock has great pizza - across the street from Firestone Grill. KSFO SAN FRANCISCO INT'L SAN FRANCISCO CA Historic -- Go the International Terminal and take the Bart to Powell St. It will take you downtown and right to the Cable Cars which you can then take to Fishermans Wharf. KSNA JOHN WAYNE SANTA ANA CA Food -- At at Gulliver's Restaurant right by the airport. Pretty pricy dinner but VERY good prime rib in such large portions I could eat just about 3/4 of it. Really good! Hotels -- The Newport Beach Marriott. Worth the extra $. Very comfortable hotel, located right next to fashion island. Have a couple of brews at the Yard House next door, catch a flick and then get up early to enjoy their delicious breakfast in the hotel. Hotels -- We stayed at the Ayres Hotel 325 Bristol Street Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (714)-549-0300- Great hotel. Atlantic FBO hooked us with a rate under 0 for a suite with free breakfast. Nice Hotel! Didn't look like a whole lot to do around there but I had a short overnight and got a great nights sleep. KUDD BERMUDA DUNES PALM SPRINGS CA Food -- Goodys Cafe, good breakfast. |
